Inspiration
Dead Silence (2007)Our first original ideas of a "Doll" came from the film "Dead Silence." We liked their opening sequence as it concentrated on their titles, and gradually built up the making of the Doll, which was the main feature of the film. However when we decided to have a go at doing it ourselves, we found it hard to re-create it in our own way.

Insidious (2010)By watching Insidious as part of our research, we all agreed that we liked their opening sequence. We thought the way they presented their titles was clever with the smoke effect making the writing disappear. We also liked the simplicity of each shot where something small happens in nearly every clip. We also liked their panning shot flowing between rooms giving little hints of what appears within the film. As we liked lots of different parts of their opening sequence we decided to try and recreate it while adding in our own touch.

4.48 psychosis - by Sarah Kane
This is a play written by Sarah Kane, who committed suicide after writing the play, before its first performance. The title comes from the time that Kane herself, in a depressed state often woke. The plays main subject was of severe clinical depression, a disorder which Kane suffered from.
4:48am
From looking into the play, we thought we would research the time to see if there are any other stories which relate. By doing this we found out that the time 4:48am is the most regular time that the mentally ill normally wake, and in some cases commit suicide. There have also been stories around this time where people have sightings of seeing figures and ghosts. (KI, AM)
